Microscope slide assemblyProblem:

The automation of microscope slide assembly is challenging. Glass microscope slides are fragile, and cover glasses are thinner and even more delicate. Often, assembly is in a clean-room environment to avoid cross-contamination of slides because they are to be used for scientific or medical research.

Our LAL-30 actuators control touch-down force to under 10 grams, and tests have proven proven not to break glass in this application. In this application, a vacuum picks glass covers with a high-speed approach, and a slow softland routine places the glass. Our solution offers the best speed combined with controlled force because it is ideal for this application. It is suitable for a clean-room environment to prevent contamination of microscope slides.
