Absolute Optical Encoders

Overview

Absolute optical encoders output a signal that directly relates to absolute position. For this reason, they do not require a homing or reference signals.

ORLIN Technologies offers a range of stepper motors fitted with absolute encoders from the factory.

SMAC is also currently developing absolute rotary and linear encoders. These will be available from ORLIN soon and will offer:

  • 26 bit resolution for single turn and 32 bit resolution for multi-turn
  • SPI or BiSSc interface
  • Simultaneous ABZ, UVW, and BiSS
